Character Design – Ali
Character Design for a uni assignment last year. We were required to create, design and sculpt a character traditionally. I used sculpey clay for this as opposed to the plastiline they gave us as it was more malleable and gave me much better results.
Anatomy of legs are a little off, as I realised I bent the original wireframe a bit too much but the sculpey needed to follow the wire in order for it to hold its form together well.
Quite happy with the result since it’s my first time using sculpey to model a whole character, would like to try again.
Bought some tools off ebay for a fiver, similar to these:
Which helped smooth out and shape the overall form with ease. Definitely worth getting a set…
